Zlatko Krmpotic is very happy with Saturday’s 4-1 home win over
Nchanga Rangers at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.
The result lifted unbeaten Zesco to second place on the FAZ Super Division table from two games played with a match in hand on maximum 6 points just three days after beating promoted Konkola Blades 2-0 at the same venue.
“We have played so too much better than the last game (against Blades) and collected another three points,” Krmpotic said.
“Maybe the team was tired on Wednesday against Konkola after playing so many games last month and so we changed the team playing Lazarus (Kambole) and (Misheck) Chaila. We have our targets to play good football and to win.”
Jesse Were put Zesco ahead from the penalty spot in the 13th minute,
Kambole added a brace in the 37th and 45th minutes while Idris Mbombo
scored the final goal in the 62nd minute.
Samson Mubanga converted a 78th minute penalty to give Rangers their
And Krmpotic said he was not surprised with his team’s prolific form after scoring six goals so far in the league.
“This is their job, this is normal in football, we play this football all the time,” Krmpotic said.
Next stop for Zesco is Nakambala Leopards away on Wednesday where a victory will see them top the table ahead of this Sunday’s big showdown away to Nkana in Kitwe.
