Zlatko Krmpotic says Sunday’s 2017 Confederation Cup pre-group stage away draw against Enugu Rangers has put them as favourites to qualify.
Zesco rallied from two-down to hold the Nigerian champions 2-2 in a first leg match at Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu.
“This a good result for us but it is only the first leg,” Krmpotic said.
“What is important for me is only how my team plays and not about Enugu Rangers.
“We still have 90 minutes to play and it will be different at home and I think we have the ability to win the final leg and qualify to the group stage.”
Zesco trailed 2-0 early into the second half but hit back with two late goals in the last twenty minutes to secure a vital away draw.
Chibuzor Madu put the Nigerian champions ahead from the penalty spot in the 24th minute while Osas Okoro added the second in the 46th minute.
However, defender David Owino cut Enugu’s lead in the 72nd minute to put Zesco back into contention and see him score his second goal in the 2017 Confederation Cup.
Striker Patrick Kongolo made a dream continental debut with the equaliser in the 76th minute.
A win or scoreless draw on April 15 at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola will see through to the group stage that kicks off in May.
