Zesco United battle for redemption at home this Wednesday when they host 5th positioned Green Buffaloes in a scheduled Week 6 fixture at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.
The game comes four days after Zesco sustained their first league defeat of the 2017 season when Napsa Stars beat them 1-0 away in Lusaka.
That loss also saw Zesco suffer their first competitive loss this year following a ten-match streak in which they collected seven wins and three draws.
Coach Zlatko Krmpotic is very eager to return to winning ways especially with Egyptian club Smouha looming this Saturday at the same venue in the two sides’ opening Group C match of the 2017 CAF Confederation Cup.
Furthermore, victory against Buffaloes will see Zesco return to the top of the table with a prospective two-point lead in store on 12 points until the rest of the Week 6 fixtures are played this weekend.
Zesco dropped to 3rd after the loss staying put on 10 points, one behind leaders Lumwana Radiants, but beaten to the number two slot by Zanaco only on goal difference.
Buffaloes have 7 points heading into the mid-week date.
Meanwhile, Zesco enjoy a good record against Buffaloes from their last eight meetings with four wins and as many draws.
Last season both teams played out to 1-1 home and away draws.
