Zesco moves to fifth

Zesco United on Sunday moved into 5th place after  a 1-0  away win
over  Konkola  Blades at Nchanga Stadium in Chingola.
The  five-time champions win sees them continue  on an upward
projectile after  collecting their third straight  league win since
they lost 1-0  at home in the Ndola  derby against Forest Rangers on
July  9.
Zesco could have walk away with at least a couple of more goals but
found Blades goalkeeper Kelvin  Pemba in inspired form.
Their first attempt came through John Chingandu who a great  chance in
the 16th minute wasted when  he struggled to control  the ball in
goal scoring territory inside  the box.
Jesse Were then saw his 34th minute free kick parried by Pemba.
But Were made no mistake  ten minutes later from  the penalty spot
that they won off an  Andrew  Tembo hand-ball.
The Zesco striker then stepped up to send  Pemba the wrong way.
But Pemba  again was in inspired form for Blades in the 56th minute,
this time denying Dave Daka.
A minute later, Zesco suffered a setback when goalkeeper Jacob Banda
was substituted  after not feeling well.
Banda was replaced by Bob Kasua who made his debut since moving from
demoted Lusaka Tigers this year.
And Were was  again  on the prowl late into the match but the post
deny him a brace in the 72nd minute before Pemba flapped out the
danger.
Meanwhile, Zesco have  32 points  from 16 games with four matches in hand.
Zesco are tied on points with 4th placed Lusaka Dynamos and are now
four points behind leaders Napsa Stars.
