George Lwandamina has stated that Zesco United is making promising progress in their defence of the FAZ Super Division title at the half-way point of the 2016 season.

Zesco beat second from bottom Lusaka Dynamos 2-0 on Wednesday to reclaim second place on 28 points and move within six points of leaders Zanaco.

The victory was Zesco eighth of the season from 13 matches played after suffering just one league defeat so far in the 2016 season.

It also extended Zesco’s unbeaten run in the league to five matches from which they have picked up three wins and two draws since Forest Rangers beat them 1-0 away in the Ndola derby on May 11 at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium.

“It will be realized and we are not very far from it,” Lwandamina said.

“What is important is winning.

“Whichever team we meet is not too important, what is important is to maximize on the points.”

Meanwhile, Zesco head to Morocco this weekend ahead of their top two CAF Champions League Group A clash against second placed Wydad Casablanca whom they face on June 29.

Zescvo and Wydad have three points from their June 18 match-day-one 3-2 home and 1-0 away victories over Al Ahly of Egypt and ASEC Mimosa of Cote d’Ivoire respectively.

The match against Wydad will be live on SuperSport 9 this Wednesday with match build-up starting at 23h30.
