Zesco United turn their attention to domestic Cup action on Wednesday when they kickoff their Barclays Cup title defence with a quarterfinal date away to Kitwe United at Nkana Stadium in Kitwe.
The game comes just four days since Zesco were eliminated from the quarterfinal stage of the 2017 CAF Confederation Cup by SuperSport United.
Wednesdays game is critical not only because Zesco have a reputation as holders and seeking an unprecedented sixth title, but also to raise the teams morale after bumpy last 30 odd days.
Zesco head into their clash against Kitwe on a run of six competitive matches without a win since they beat Napsa Stars 2-1 at home in Ndola on August 20.
Since then , Zesco have garnered four draws and two defeats in all competitions.
Meanwhile , Zesco are set to meet Kitwe for the first time since the latter were demoted in 2006.
Zesco have since their promotion in 2004 adominated Kitwe in topwith three wins, two draws and one defeat.
Interestingly that defeat came in their last clash in July, 2006 that Kitwe won 1-0 on their way to Division 1 where they have yet to bounce back from.
