Zesco United will host record eight-time champions Al Ahly of Egypt in their opening Group A match of the 2016 CAF Champions League.
George Lwandamina’s side has been drawn against Al Ahly, 1992 champions Wydad Casablanca of Morocco and 1998 winners ASEC Mimosa of Cote d’Ivoire.
Zesco will host Al Ahly on match-day-one on June 18 at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.
It will be the two sides second meeting in the competition since 2011 when they drew 0-0 in Ndola before Zesco lost 1-0 away in Cairo that saw them bow out at the pre-group stage.
Zesco will follow this up with their first-ever meeting against Wydad on June 30 in Casablanca.
This will be Zesco second trip to Morocco where they faced MAS Fes in the 2011 Confederation Cup last 16 after they were relegated from the Champions League but were eliminated 2-1 on aggregate after a 1-0 home win.
Zesco will later host ASEC during the weekend of July 17 and visit Abidjan in the quick-turn around on July 27.
George Lwandamina’s side will then travel to Cairo for their penultimate Group A match on August 13 before wrapping up their league stage campaign on August 24 against Wydad at Levy.
The top two sides will advance to the two legged semifinals in September to do battle against victor and runner-up from Group B.
Group B comprises of two time champions Enyimba, Entente Setif of Algeria, Mamelodi Sundowns and Egyptian side Zamalek.
