George Lwandamina has lauded his charges for putting up an efficient display in Wednesday’s win over Red Arrows in a rescheduled FAZ Super Division Week 4 game at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.

Zesco United overcame jet-lag and some rust from the Heroes and Unity holiday weekend when they beat Arrows 2-0 to reclaim second place.

The victory came six days after losing 2-0 away to Wydad Casablanca of Morocco in a CAF Champions League Group A fixture in Rabat before embarking on a three stop flight back home on Friday after the game.

“This was a Wednesday game and all midweek games are like that. Players are also human they are also coming from a break and you cannot expect anything special they tried their best,” Lwandamina said.

“It was a tough game. Red Arrows are playing well and have the endurance to run 90 minutes. It is good we took the advantage to score the two goals.

“We put them under pressure and we capitalized on their mistakes.”

Jackson Mwanza headed in the first goal in the 17th minute before Jesse Were punished Arrows goalkeeper Daniel Munyao who he dropped the ball to slot in for the final goal in the 47th minute.

Zesco shift from third to second exchanging places with Nkana tied on 31 points and nine points behind leaders Zanaco.
