Zesco United made a statement of intent on Wednesday after a 2-0 home win over promoted Konkola Blades in a delayed 2017 FAZ Super Division Week 1 match played at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.

Goal’s from Lazarus Kambole and Idris Mbombo handed Zesco their opening 3 points of the campaign.
However, it took until the stroke of halftime for Zesco to break the deadlock after a plucky Blades packed eight men behind the ball.
Kambole head-in the opening goal in the 45th minute on the far post from a cross delivered by Fackson Kapumbu.
Kambole has been on the pitch barely five minutes before he scored after replacing midfielder Mwape Mwelwa.
It could have been 2-0 in the 71st minute after Mbombo was brought down by Bob Chansa but Jesse Were’s resultant spot-kick was parried by Blades goalkeeper Reagan  Simango.
