Zesco United Football Club skipper Jacob Banda has predicted a victory in tomorrow’s CAF Champions League preliminary tie against Jeshi La Kujenga Uchumi (JKU) of Zanzibar.
Banda says his teammates attaches great importance to tomorrow’s tie and will be fighting for an outright victory.
“We are motivated because we will be playing at home before our fans. Everyone in the team is geared for tomorrow’s game and wants to win.”
He said the team was not under pressure despite failing to win when the two teams met in the first leg played in Zanzibar.
“We know that they have come here with a view to win but we will not give them that privilege. Our aim is to win and progress to the next stage of the competition. It was disappointing that we failed to win in the first leg but we have a second opportunity to win at home”
And JKU Football Club head coach Ali Mtuli says his charges are ready for Wednesdays second leg tie.
Mtuli who took his charges through their first training session yesterday at Ndola’s Trade Fair grounds says Zesco United will be under pressure to win.
“Zesco United is a big team and we respect them. But we are also aware that they will be playing under pressure especially that they are playing at home.”
Mtuli added that his charges have a big chance of winning the game despite not being favorites.
“I have a young and ambitious team. They accounted for themselves very well at home. They also know that they have a very good chance of turning the tables here in in Zambia.”
Meanwhile JKU FC captain Ponsian Malik expects a tough game against the Zambian Super League Champions.
“Zesco United are a very good team but we are also here to win the match. My teammates understand what is at stake; so we will do our best to get a positive result.”
Zesco United will tomorrow face JKU Football Club of Zanzibar in the CAF Champions League preliminary stage at the Levy Mwanawasa stadium at 15:00 Hours.
Two weeks ago Zesco United got a barren draw against JKU in the first leg played in Zanzibar.
