George Lwamdamina is delighted to have striker Jesse Were and defender Ben Banh back from suspension.
The duo missed Zesco’s opening Group A match against Al Ahly that Lwandamina’s team won 3-2 at home on June 18 in Ndola after accruing two yellow cards each in the knockout rounds.
Were scored two goals in the knockout round and is two behind Zesco’s joint top scorers in the competition striker Idris Mbombo and midfielder Cletus Chama while Banh has been a critical part of the five-time Zambian champions backline since his arrival this season.
“They are good players and they are vital cogs in the machine,” Lwandamina said.
“So we missed them but the others who replaced them stood up the challenge but they still stand to be our good players whom we have received back with both hands and hope they will also rise to the occasion and make Zambia proud.”
However, still missing will be Mbombo who also sat out the Al Ahly game due to a back problem.
