Zesco United FC

Week two match postponed

The game that was scheduled to be played at Konkola stadium in Chililabombwe on Wednesday 19th March has been postponed after a request by Zesco United to the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ).

In an email dated Monday 17th March to FAZ General Secretary George Kasengele, ZUFC general secretary Justin Mumba said the team is traveling to Ghana on Thursday in the first leg match of the confederations cup against Medeama SC.

“After our week one match we have 4 injured players and before the match we had 3. We may have more injures during the week two match and we are flying out the following day on Thursday 20, 2014 to Ghana. We have already paid for our visas and air tickets and if we have to replace any injured player we have to apply for a new visas and time will not be with us. It will also mean to buy new tickets for the other players. It is for these reasons that we are unable to play the math against Konkola Mine Police,” the email stated.

Meanwhile training has intensified in the ZUFC camp with the George Lwandamina led technical bench setting full day training for the next two days.
